Olympic Games Test Event started on Tuesday

The Olympic Gymnastics Test Event will take place from the 10th-18th January 2012 and is the second and final chance for gymnasts across all three disciplines (artistic, trampoline and rhythmic) to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The test event will take place in the North Greenwich Arena.
Part of the London Prepares series, this event enables the London 2012 Organising Committee to test crucial aspects of its operations ahead of next year’s Games.

Artistic Gymnastics
Men and Women Artistic gymnasts respectively obtained the right to compete in the Test Event as follows:
  • eight Teams of five who ranked 9-16 in Competition I at the 2011 WCh Tokyo (JPN),
  • sixteen Individual gymnasts from the NFs, who ranked 1–8 in the Team ranking from Competition I in Tokyo, with a maximum of two per NF,
  • 41 other gymnasts including up to two gymnasts from NFs ranked 17–24 in the Team ranking from Competition I in Tokyo; up to one gymnast from a NF, in addition to those ranked 1–24 in the Team ranking from Competition I in Tokyo, to participate as per the Individual ranking from Competition I of the 2011 World Championships (All-Around results).

Parallel bars: ... Epke ZONDERLAND (NED) started with 14,966 and his teammate Jeffrey WAMMES with 14,055.
The Luxembougian Sascha PALGEN's disposal at the parallel bars ended in a landing seat: 11,660 only.
The Bulgarian veteran Jordan Yovtchev, who tries the participation of his 6th (!!) Olympic Games reached 13,233 on parallel bars.

... but Zonderland crashed with the highest score of difficulty (6.7) ....

LONDON (GBR) and Lausanne (SUI) / FIG Office:
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) today publishes the list of Men's Artistic Gymnastics qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
A total of 98 spots were available, with gymnasts having qualified at the 2011 World Championships in Tokyo (JPN) and the Visa International Gymnastics in January 2012 in London (GBR). Twelve teams of five gymnasts from Japan, USA, China, Germany, Russia, Korea, Romania, Ukraine, Great Britain, France, Spain and Italy fill 60 spots.

of the 2011 Worlds, who fulfilled the minimum criteria and whose countries did not qualify a full team, namely Diego Hypolito (BRA), Alexander Shatilov (ISR), Krisztian Berki (HUN), Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti (BRA) and Vasileios Tsolakidis (GRE) are qualified taking a total of five nominative places.
Team ranking fifth to eight at the second qualifier earn one position for their NOC (Canada, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Belarus), with the remaining positinos being nominative as per the attached list.

Three places are set aside for Continental balance and Tripartite universality. These places will be nominated by the FIG Executive Committee, respectively by the Tripartiet Commission. in due time.
