At the 18th FISU World University Games 2025, the artistic gymnastics competitions will take place in Exhibition Hall 3 in Essen.
After the first two days of competition for the men, JAPAN's student team won the gold medal with 252.027 points, ahead of CANADA (239.593) and SWITZERLAND (239.162). Korea, Spain and Australia followed in the rankings. The German team finished a distant 15th among the 23 complete teams.
♦ Japan's men were the superior winning team, with Olympic champion Daiki HASHIMOTO dominating the all-around qualification with 85.197 points ahead of Shohei KAWAKAMI (JPN; 83.532) and Oka SHINNOSUKE (JPN; 82.437). Germany's best gymnast, Alexander Kunz, ranked 11th with 78.530 points.

China won two apparatus titles in the men's finals: on the vault and on the rings.
Luke Whitehouse (GBR) secured the only European success on the floor ahead of Shinnosuke Oka (JPN).
The Japanese dominated the parallel bars with a double victory. On the pommel horse, an Armenian defeated the favourite Hashimoto from Japan, while on the high bar, Canada's Felix Dolci relegated Japan's Daiki Hashimoto to silver.
* Switzerland won a silver medal on the vault with Luca Murabito and three further final placings with Ian Raubal (4th on the parallel bars), Tim Randegger (5th on the high bar) and Dominic Tamsel (8th on the high bar).

♦ Japan's women also dominated the all-around competition with gold medallist Shoko MIYATA (55.150) ahead of her compatriot Mana OKAMURA (52.659), while bronze also went to Asia, to Tonya Helene PAULSSON (TPE; 52.350).
Austrian Selina KICKINGER achieved a great success, finishing sixth with 51.350 points, making her the best German-speaking gymnast and the second-best gymnast in Europe after Belgium's Jade VANSTEENKISTE.

Asian dominance was abundantly clear in the women's finals:
Japan's all-around winner Shoko Myata also won the vault and floor exercises. Her compatriot Urara Ashikawa was unbeatable on the beam. Here, the Chemnitz native and 2022 European champion Emma Malewski (GER) won the bronze medal behind Taipeh's Tonya Helene Paulsson.
The uneven bars were dominated by China's YANG Fuaway with the day's highest score (8.8)=15.000.
