29th European Gymnastics Congress

An important day in Albufeira (POR) today as the 50 member federations of European Gymnastics ("EG") got the opportunity to elect their choice of authorities that will guide European Gymnastics through the next 3 years, instead of 4 due to the postponement of this Congress after the covid-19 pandemic. 45 nations sent their representatives thus being allowed to cast their vote.

D'Amato and Kovtun won in Chiasso

The 39th tournament for the Arthur Gander Cup in Chiasso, Switzerland, was won on 23 November by Alice D'AMATO from Italy ahead of Lena Bickel from Switzerland and Morgane Osyssek-Reimer from France.
In the men's competition (only 4 apparatus), Ilya KOVTUN from Ukraine won ahead of Yul MOLDAUER (USA) and Lorenzo Minh Casali from Italy.

German youth gymnast Jukka Nissinen in inpatient rehabilitation after training accident

* In a DTB-press release today, the German Gymnastics Federation informs --:
The German youth gymnast Jukka NISSINEN (Eintracht Frankfurt) suffered a serious accident in a training accident at the Frankfurt performance centre at the beginning of September. The 16-year-old injured his spine and is currently undergoing in-patient rehabilitation. According to the Nissinen family, the possible consequences of the injury are not yet foreseeable. 42nd WORLDS of WOMEN's Artistic Gymnastics 2022

Liverpool witnesses the 42nd  WOMEN's WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS of Artistic Gymnastics, which debuted in Budapest for the 10th Worlds in 1934. If at that time the Czech Republic and Sweden were tie top nations, from 1954 followed an incomparable era of Soviet women's gymnastics with 10 team victories, which at that time only Romania, the GDR and China came close.
