- Parallel bars: The parallel bars Olympic champion Oleg Verniaiev once again showed an excellent and solid routine earning him a score of 15.166 points. The 30yr old Marcel Nguyen however also wanted a shot at winning the final and earning a gold medal. Three double flips between the bars from different positions and a Tsukahara dismount earned him a score of 15.133 points and the bronze medal behind Verniaiev. In the end, it was Tan Di of China, who beat the two arch-rivals to gold with a score of 15.566. This was the second gold medal of the day for China. The second German competitor in the parallel bars final was Ivan Rittschik, who came fifth.
- High bar --: In the last final of the day, the Chemnitz-based Andreas Bretschneider performed confidently and visibly relaxed, earning him his fourth high bar gold medal. Without his signature “Bretschneider” but with a cleanly executed routine and a solid dismount, he won the high bar final at the 42nd Turnier der Meister for the fourth time after 2013, 2014 and 2016. In second place was Marvin Kimble from the United States and in third place Pietro Giachino of Norway. Tan Di of China, the vice-champion at this years Chinese National Championships was the first one to compete in the high bar final with an unconventional routine. A murmur went through the 1550 spectator strong crowd at the Lausitzarena as he performed giants with tucked shoulders. In the end, however, the winner of Friday's qualification was left in fourth place.
